FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS, ANSWERED.

What is a Paintless Dent Removal / Repair (PDR) ?

Paintless Dent Repair is a specialised method of removing dents, creases and dings, without the need for costly body shop work and re-spraying. Paintless Dent Repair is done by carefully manipulating the metal dent from the panel using specialised tools.

What are the advantages and benefits of Paintless Dent Repair?

  • Probably the most important benefit is the finished result. Paintless Dent Repairs are as close as you can get to the dent never having happened in the first place without the attention of a bodyshop or repacement panel.
  • Paintless Dent Repair requires no sanding, filler or paintwork so there are no problems after the repair with things like colour matching or fading.
  • Cost is also a major benefit, typically a minor dent repaired in a body shop costs anywhere between £200 and £400, sometimes higher. That same dent can usually be repaired for less than £100 using Paintless Dent Removal.
  • Time savings are another advantage. Whereas a body shop will need your car for several days, causing you inconvenience, we can usually fix a dent, at your premises within an hour (depending on the dents size and access). Paintless Dent Repairs are also environmentally friendly as we don't use paints, filler or other harmful chemicals.

After the repair will the dent be completely invisible?

Minor dents, for example parking dents, can usually be removed completely, without leaving any trace. Sharper, deeper dents are sometimes more difficult to remove fully but even on larger dents, most people are astonished and delighted with the results.

Can a dent come back?

No, once a dent has been removed with Paintless Dent Removal techniques it does not come back. Unless you re-dent the panel that is!!

Can any kind of dent be fixed?

No. The size, depth and location of the dent ca all be limiting factors. Dents can be fixed, as long as they are not too deep. Dents that are very deep, sometimes cannot be fixed using Paintless Dent Repair because the metal is too stretched. If the paint is broken or cracked it also makes PDR an inappropriate repair medium.

Do you do multiple dent discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts for multiple dents. If you have more than one minor dent on a panel, we will generally offer a reduced rate to repair a second or third dent. This does depend on the sizes and number of dents, so would be subject to quotation.

Do you repair dents for private car owners or just car dealers and the motor trade?

All. We offer the same high quality Paintless Dent Removal service too everyone.

Can Paintless Dent Removal make my car more saleable?

Simply put, YES! We Dent Men will all do work for the trade at some time or another. It is a cost effective way to prepare a car for the forecourt and is common practice. Would you rather buy a car with or without that annoying car park dent? Without, of course. So in the same way you too can prepare your car for sale adding value and making it more attractive to a potential buyer. Remember this is not a cheat, it is a proper repair in the same way a good paint rectification treatment is.

So how much will it cost and what do you do now?

That depends on several factors. How big is the dent? What is the access like? What is the panel made of i.e steel, aluminium? The value of the car is rarely the mitigating factor when it comes to cost. Metals can vary as too do paint finishes but the same techniques and sets of tools are employed to complete a repair. Time is the element that effects cost most. For example, dropping a head linning from a new small family hatch to get to a roof dent and then replacing it takes a lot longer than threading a tool under the front wheel arch of a premium super car. Based on these and other factors, dents can take 30 minutes or all day. Have a look at our Price List page for a Guide to costs, but a FREE personal assessment will be required for an accurate quotation to be given.
